Synopsis

​Power & Way is a gripping story about fathers, sons, and the deep scars that run through family legacies, set against the backdrop of a train disaster in town on the edge of extinction. Amongst the granite mountains of Appalachia, Power & Way explores themes of redemption, reconciliation, loyalty and temptation, and the power of understanding the truths hidden beneath the surface. 
rFRANK CAMPBELL is a bitter train engineer on the verge of retirement. 

His painful relationship with his son KEVIN CAMPBELL is ever-present. Kevin, a respected union leader, has been a disappointment in his father's eyes, a presumed sentiment simmering throughout his entire life. Frank’s world collapses when his employer goes under, driving his only friend TOM RYDER to suicide. Spiraling into guilt and anger,  Frank lashes out at Kevin during a failed attempt at comfort. This fracture leads Frank to make a catastrophic decision to sabotage a freight train, which by chance gets switched to a passenger train at the last minute, an act he only vaguely remembers. The train derails, killing nine and injuring dozens.

NTSB investigator ANDREA ‘ANDY’ MAYLAND leads the investigation while Frank’s vicious rival, Sheriff Hollis Peete, harbors his own biased conclusions.  Andy discovers a crowbar and a wrecked bicycle belonging to BEAU HARPER, a young autistic teenager with a passion for trains. Beau’s injury in the wreck complicates the investigation, with suspicions swinging between him and Frank, who has become a prime suspect. ​

As Andy unravels the mystery, Kevin grapples with the possibility of his father’s culpability in the disaster, and a growing attraction to her. But his strained relationship with Frank hits its breaking point after a disastrous family gathering where Frank alienates everyone, including young Michael.  Tension escalates when Frank admits he believes he derailed the train, leading to a violent confrontation between father and son.  But as the investigation deepens, it becomes clear to Andy that Frank may not have been capable of causing the wreck.​ 

​In a dramatic climax, Frank hijacks a locomotive, setting off a high-speed chase with Kevin and Andy working together to save his father. Hollis, determined to bring Frank down, confronts him onboard and through Andy, the truth finally emerges: Frank was not responsible for the derailment. But now in a runaway locomotive,  Frank sacrifices himself to save Kevin just before sharing that his son was the best thing he has ever done.
